Pledge Multi Surface Cleaner

By Beth Knott

I often clean more than one thing at a time, and according to the studies done by The SC JoThnson Corporation, so do many people. The research I found on their website says that
- 73% of adults say they do two or more cleaning chores at a time
- 26% of people surveyed admitted to ruining at least one surface because they used the incorrect cleaning product

So, like most people I have a tub full of cleaning products, and while I haven’t found anything that will do the job on every type of surface or cleaning job, I must say that I do like the Pledge® Multi Surface cleaner. On the bottle it says that it cleans metal, wood, glass, and electronics, and I pretty much found that to be true.

One reason I don’t like cleaning my TV stand or my windows is because I usually get the wood dusting stuff on the glass windows or on the TV and then I have to deal with the streaks or worry about ruining my TV screen. I cleaned my windows (yes, the glass and the wood parts) with this one cleaner and both surfaces got clean and no streaks to clean up! Same thing with the TV that sits atop my armoire… The top of the armoire was covered in dust, but the multi surface cleaner gathered all the dust and didn’t do any damage to my TV.

I did use it in my kitchen (mind you, it doesn’t claim to be for tile or ceramic cooktops), and it did a pretty good job. I’ll probably still use an all purpose cleaner in there like 409, because I really didn’t think it cut through grease well, but again, it didn’t claim to.

I have tried both the aerosol and the pump version. I like the fragrances that they offer in the aerosol, but the pump version was cheaper per ounce and it cleaned just as well. And, maybe it was just a marketing hook, but since the pump claimed to have allergen trappers, I was willing to give it a chance… Who knows if that’s for real or not. Without a scientific lab, I’m not sure how I would know for sure.

All in all I think that Pledge® Multi Surface cleaners live up to the claims on their bottles. And if it helps me to eliminate just one or two bottles in my cleaning supply tub, then in my book its well worth it!
